Dozens of demonstrators staged a sit-in outside the U.S. Embassy in Tunis on Tuesday, calling for the expulsion of the American ambassador and legislation to criminalize normalization with Israel.
The protest, organized by pro-Palestinian advocacy groups, unfolded in front of a heavy security presence.
Demonstrators set up tents, waved Palestinian flags, and held signs that read “Stop the genocidal war in Gaza” and “Criminalize normalization if you are sincere.”
More than a thousand people marched through Athens Tuesday in support of Palestinians and to mark the second anniversary of Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel that triggered the war in Gaza.
Protesters held banners, placards and Palestinian flags as they marched towards the Israeli embassy.
Several demonstrators threw flares and fireworks in the direction of the building as riot police stood nearby.
The march is among others around the world condemning the war in Gaza.
