The City of Yuma is helping residents prepare for potential heavy rain this week and weekend by providing a self-serve sandbag filling station in the Yuma Civic Center parking lot at 1440 W. Desert Hills Drive.
The station opens at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 8, and will remain open until further notice.
Sand and empty bags will be available while supplies last (limited to five bags per vehicle). Residents are encouraged to bring their own shovel.
“The city urges residents to use caution when traveling during inclement weather and to take this opportunity to revisit or update your household disaster plan,” read a city press release. “For guidance on creating a Family Emergency Plan, visit www.ready.gov .”
