Melanie Tafur scored a hat trick and Izzy Weiner added a pair of goals as Ridge, No. 12 in the NJ.com statewide Top 20, defeated Mount St. Mary, 5-2, in second-round play in the Somerset County Tournament in Basking Ridge.

Two goals from Tafur bookended a four-goal barrage by the fifth-seeded Red Devils (11-0-1) in the first half.

Mount St. Mary, the 12th seed in the tournament, got back in the game with a first-half goal by Fiorella Perone late in the first half and a score by Meghan Dwyer in the second, but the last word went to Ridge -- Tafur scored again to close it out.

Mount St. Mary fell to 6-3-1.
