London: The Catholic Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Great Britain has issued a circular clarifying the canonical norms regarding the validity of sacramental marriages for all Syro-Malabar faithful, including the Knanaya community, within its jurisdiction.
Bishop Joseph Srampickal emphasized that while the Syro-Malabar Church has its “proper territory” in India, all faithful residing abroad, including in Great Britain, fall under the pastoral care of the Eparchy established by Pope Francis in 2016. The circular explains that the Knanaya faithful, though part of this broader community, retain their unique heritage and are encouraged to participate in the 15 Knanaya Missions or Proposed Missions established in the Eparchy.
