GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP — Republican Jack Ciattarelli said he rarely makes promises on the campaign trail, but he said he’ll refuse to apply the annual “fiscal Band-Aid” to Atlantic City and other major cities if he becomes the next governor in January.

“We need a gamechanger, so we’re going to have a very aggressive plan to diversify the economy in these major urban areas in New Jersey and make people want to live there again,” Ciattarelli said. “The population of Atlantic City in 1925 was 55,000, but today it’s 37,000. We don’t want people just coming in and visiting casinos. We want these cities to be shiny cities on the hill where people want to live once again.”
