A Cromwell man was convicted on Tuesday of fatally stabbing his partner during a domestic violence incident in Middletown in 2020 and fleeing to Georgia, where he was taken into custody two days later.

A Middletown Superior Court jury found 42-year-old William Bigaud, Jr. guilty of murder, home invasion, first-degree burglary and risk of injury to a child, according to the release from the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice . Judge Laura F. Baldini presided over the trial.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call on June 8, 2020, and found a woman stabbed to death in a residence on Green Street. Court records show that the woman was the mother of his children.

According to police, Bigaud was named a suspect after he was allegedly seen leaving the home.
