Bengaluru: The Dharmasthala Dourjanya Virodhi Vedike is organizing a series of protests, ‘Nyayakkagi Janagraha 2025’ at 60 places across Karnataka on Thursday, October 9, in opposition of various illegal activities in Dharmasthala.

The organization is carrying out the protest series on the occasion of 13 years since the rape and murder of Sowjanya. The protest is said to be against rape, murder, illegal acquisition of land reserved for Dalits and microfinance interest racket that is allegedly going on in the temple town.

People have been fighting since 1980 against cases of unnatural death, murder, rape and land acquisition in Dharmasthala. This is, however, the first instance that the Vedike is organizing protests in villages all over the state for these issues on a single day.
