Shillong, Oct 8: In a significant step towards promoting alternative dispute resolution and reducing the burden of pending litigations, the Meghalaya High Court carried out a special mediation drive in the State.
During this initiative, a total of 212 matters were referred by various courts and out of these cases, 21 cases were settled including Matrimonial Cases, Domestic Violence, Cheque Bounce Cases (NI Act Cases), Service Matters, Criminal Compoundable and Other Suitable Civil cases.
The 90 days drive, “Mediation For the Nation”, was organised by the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) in association with the Mediation and Conciliation Project Committee (MCPC), Supreme Court of India.
