GARLAND COUNTY, Ark. — Arkansas State Police has begun investigating after a deputy with the Garland County Sheriff's Office fatally shot a man who was acting "disorderly" and "wielding a shovel."
According to authorities, the Garland County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the 100 block of Ebony Way on Tuesday, Oct. 7. Authorities received calls of a man that was "acting in a disorderly manner, wearing no shirt, and carrying a shovel."
When they arrived, a sheriff's deputy is said to have made contact with the man that was allegedly wielding a shovel.
Authorities said that shortly after making contact, the man allegedly approached the deputy in "an aggressive manner" which led to the deputy firing their weapon at the man.
