As the uncertainty continues over when the federal government shutdown will end, the blamed game continued between Maryland lawmakers.

Maryland Rep. Andy Harris and U.S. House of Representatives Majority Leader Steve Scalise held a press call Tuesday evening regarding the shutdown.

Harris said that furloughs and layoffs will likely happen because there is no funding. He adds that it should not have to happen because Democrats won’t vote on a clean, no-strings-attached bill to reopen the government.

“It’s been in the Senate for weeks now. They’ve had five different votes in the Senate on that bill to open up the government. All five times, both Maryland Senators, Chris Van Hollen and Angela Alsobrooks, have voted to shut the government down,” Harris said. The good news is there’s four De
