Tropical Storm Jerry is expected to strengthen into a hurricane Oct. 9.

A trough of low pressure in the southwestern Gulf is forecast to bring heavy rain to portions of southern Mexico.

Forecasters also are watching three tropical waves, including two in the Caribbean.

The National Hurricane Center is tracking Tropical Storm Jerry in the Atlantic and a trough of low pressure in the southwestern Gulf, along with three tropical waves.

Jerry is expected to strengthen into a hurricane in the next day or two.

Jerry is forecast to curve north into the Atlantic, staying away from Florida and the U.S.
