That’s when former Saskatchewan Roughriders president and player Jim Hopson was inducted as an athlete/builder and — during his acceptance speech — publicly began campaigning to similarly honour Mazurak, his good friend and former teammate. Article content Article content

“It was almost embarrassing,” said Mazurak, who will be in the hall’s Class of 2025 being honoured Thursday night at the Conexus Arts Centre.

“He said so many nice things and basically shamed the Hall of Fame and a whole bunch of people into getting me in there. But that’s OK, I’ll take it. I’m honoured to be included with such a great group.”
