The City of Grand Junction is proposing a $314.8 million budget for 2026, which is a $44.3 million reduction from the 2025 budget mostly due to two large capital projects that saw major portions of the planned work completed this year.
City Manager Mike Bennett presented the proposed budget to the City Council at a Monday work session. The work to prepare the budget is significant, Bennett said, including many months of work by city staff.
“In our line of work the annual budget has a ton of meaning,” Bennett said. “For one, when you hear the phrase follow the numbers this is where you see where priorities are put forth and commitments to the public … are found.”
