With his gun drawn, a Boston police officer last week attempted to detain five youths for allegedly breaking into cars in a garage near Post Office Square while they taunted him for holding them at gunpoint and demanded the officer’s badge number, according to a video clip of the incident.

The tense encounter was presumably recorded by one of the youths.

What the video does not show is when one of the youths jumped on the officer’s back, grabbed at his face, and scratched him, prior to backup officers arriving on the scene, according to an incident report obtained from the Boston Police Department.
