ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - A man was shot while picking up food from a restaurant early Wednesday.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, at around 1 a.m. Wednesday, police responded to a shooting near 14th Street and Washington Avenue, outside of Pop’s Kitchen. When they arrived, police say they found a man who had been shot in his lower body.

The man told police that he was picking up food when people outside a nearby hookah lounge and a passing car began to argue. Someone in the car then shot at the group, but instead hit him.

The man was taken to an area hospital and is believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.

This is an active investigation.
