A major London landmark has been closed due to an ongoing major incident.
Locals have been asked to avoid the area and a police cordon was erected on October 8.
Both sides of the major thoroughfare have been shut with drivers being told to expect serious delays. Ambulances, police and fire crews rushed to the scene shortly after 11am.
Police have now provided an update about what has caused the closure. Images from the scene show a cordon has been set up, behind which ambulances can be seen standing in the middle of the road.
