UPDATE: An escaped inmate from Monroe County is now back in custody after a citizen saw him, recognized him, and called 911.
The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that early Tuesday morning, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person in the Corntassel area.
The 911 caller believed the individual matched the description of escaped inmate Cody Allen Patterson. The agency previously described him as short, heavy set, barefoot with a black beard.
Deputies responded, searched the area, and found Patterson. Sheriff Tommy Jones said his deputies took him into custody immediately and without incident:
