Draconid meteor shower set to light up the night sky on Oct. 8
Astronomy enthusiasts in Staten Island and the New York metropolitan area are in for a celestial treat on Oct. 8, 2025, as the Draconid meteor shower reaches its peak activity. While the event will be visible across the Northern Hemisphere, local stargazers can expect an impressive display of shooting stars throughout the night.
The Draconid meteor shower, active from Oct. 6 through Oct. 10, will be particularly spectacular around 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The shower’s radiant point is located in the constellation Draco and viewers can expect to see meteors streaking across the sky, with the best viewing conditions occurring shortly after dusk.
