Former FBI Director James Comey did not have a so-called “perp walk” into Alexandria federal courthouse in Virginia on Wednesday. In fact, he did not have any kind of public entrance at all, instead choosing a private courthouse door.

That largely left news networks to dip in an out of coverage as Comey faced charges of making a false statement to Congress and obstruction, for which he plead not guilty.

Donald Trump had called for his prosecution, and a federal indictment followed. That broke with long established norms that have put some distance between the White House and the Justice Department.
