Hyundai has recalled more than 135,000 Santa Fe vehicles because an improperly installed motor cover could lead to an electrical short, potentially causing a crash.
Hyundai issued a recall for 135,386 2024-2025 Santa Fe vehicles on Oct. 2 for improperly installed B+ positive terminal covers on the starter motor assembly. If improperly installed, the cover could come into contact with the cooling fan assembly, causing an electrical short, which could lead to a crash.
Hyundai estimates about 1% of eligible vehicles are impacted by improperly installed covers, according to a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall report .
