ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - Kentucky State Police are investigating a fatal crash in Rowan County that happened on October 7.

KSP said the crash happened just before noon on Tuesday after they received a call of a two-vehicle fatal collision on KY 519 at the Morgan and Rowan County line.

A preliminary investigation indicted that Donnie Smith, 68, of West Liberty, was driving his Buick Rainier Southbound on KY 519 when he crossed the centerline and struck several construction barrels before colliding head-on with a parked construction truck, according to police.

Police said Anthony Thomas, 57, of Owingsville, was in the parked construction truck when the crash happened.

Smith was taken to St. Claire Regional Medical Center and pronounced dead by the Rowan County Deputy Coroner Derek Lewi
