President Donald Trump has once again suggested his political opponents should be put in jail.
In a Wednesday post on Truth Social, Trump said both Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and Illinois Gov. JB Pritkzer “should be in jail for failing to protect Ice Officers!”
The post comes as the two officials have publicly opposed Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops for his immigration and crime crackdown in Chicago.
Both men have responded on social media.
“This is not the first time Trump has tried to have a Black man unjustly arrested. I’m not going anywhere,” Johnson said.
Pritzker, also on X, said:” I will not back down. Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power. What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?”
