MONROE, La. (KNOE) - A Ruston man is turning disappointment into determination after being disqualified from a national charity competition.
Marlon Marshall Jr. recently participated in Colossal Impact’s Face of Halloween contest, a nationwide event that supports the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which provides happiness and comfort to seriously ill children. Despite not advancing in the competition, Marshall says he’s not discouraged, he’s inspired.
Rather than focusing on the loss, Marshall is channeling his energy into community projects that uplift and inspire local youth. From organizing basketball tournaments at neighborhood parks to hosting free community barbecues, his goal is to give kids in Ruston positive outlets and a sense of belonging.
