ESPAÑOLA, N.M. (KRQE) – The City of Española will be getting improvements to its water infrastructure after being awarded a grant from the state water trust board. The board has awarded the city more than $17.5 million for three major projects.
The first will use $14.6 million to cover construction costs to install and replace 4.1 miles of waterlines along Riverside Drive. Another project will use $2.7 million to drill a new 410-foot water supply well at the Prince-Carter Ranch. $278,000 will go toward rehabilitation work on five of Española's existing water tanks. City officials say the projects are expected to begin next year.
