WASHINGTON (FOX Carolina/CNN) - President Donald Trump is directing federal agents to search for records related to the mysterious disappearance of aviator Amelia Earhart, according to law enforcement sources who spoke with CNN.
An executive request was sent to the FBI’s Washington field office late Tuesday to search for any records related to Earhart, the official said. Agents were given a priority deadline of Wednesday to respond to the request, which comes amid the federal government shutdown.
Earhart was attempting to become the first woman to fly around the world when her plane went missing over the Pacific Ocean in 1937. The disappearance has spawned numerous conspiracy theories over the decades.
