The Municipality of West Perth is advising the public that several deceased Canadian geese have been found in the West Perth Wetlands and their trails are temporarily closed while testing and monitoring is done to determine if avian influenza (commonly known as bird flu) is present.

As a precaution, the municipality is asking residents and visitors to follow these guidelines:

Recommended Videos

Avoid touching or handling any sick or dead birds.

Keep pets on a leash to prevent them from approaching wildlife.

Do not feed waterfowl or other wild birds at this time.

Individuals are asked to report sightings of multiple sick or dead birds to the Municipality of West Perth by calling 519-348-8429.
