Columbia is expected to update or create a new ordinance related to unsheltered resident encampments following communication between the city and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

The city already has an ordinance on encampments, explained Columbia Utilities Director Erin Keys, adding any amendments or new ordinances are at the request of DNR as part of the renewal process for the city's Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems permit, known as MS4.
