GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. —

The teenager who pleaded guilty to shooting and killing a 15-year-old on a scooter last summer will spend decades in prison for her death.

Josiah Pittman, 19, was 18 in May 2024 when he fired shots into a group of people near Studio Park in downtown Grand Rapids.

According to the Kent County Prosecutor, the shooting was a result of a disagreement between two people, but he wouldn't go into details on what that disagreement was.

La'Kyijah Williams, 15, was shot in the back of the head and died. She was not Pittman’s target.

For months, detectives worked around the clock to get witnesses to come forward. The Kent County Prosecutor said they utilized the investigative subpoena process to obtain witness statements and surveillance footage to help identify the suspe
