ST. LOUIS – The Schnucks grocery chain is recalling a pasta product sold at its stores in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana because of concerns the product may be contaminated with listeria monocytogenes.

The product, Schnucks Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad, was produced by Fresh Creative Foods, a division of Reser’s Fine Foods.

The contamination concern is for items purchased on or after Aug. 29, either in bulk at the deli counter or as a single package with UPC no. 21287100000.

Listeria infections occur when the Listeria monocytogenes bacterium contaminates food, which a person then consumes.
