FLINT, MI – The 17-year-old charged with five felonies in connection to a fire that destroyed a Clayton Township barbecue restaurant will stand trial in the case.

Noah Wyatt Engelhardt, charged as an adult, had his case bound over to Genesee County Circuit Court after a preliminary examination in August. His case now sits before Judge Mark W. Latchana, with a pretrial hearing scheduled for Oct. 13.

Attorneys representing Engelhardt and the prosecutor’s office are discussing a potential resolution to avoid a trial, according to court records.

Engelhardt faces charges of arson, home invasion and three counts of breaking and entering at Homeboy Barbeque on Beecher Road.

Engelhardt was taken into custody less than 24 hours after the May 6 blaze that destroyed the building.
