Going into their matchup last Sunday, the New Orleans Saints’ cornerback room was struggling, and second-year cornerback Kool-Aid McKinstry was not reaching the expectations put on him going into the season. This was a massive issue due to the Saints relying on McKinstry as CB1, but with his talent, there was a belief that the young corner could bounce back sooner rather than later. Although there was still a slow start against the New York Giants, it seems the Saints’ bet was smart, and Kool-Aid McKinstry finished with two interceptions, tackled much better, and came up with some significant pass deflections. With this performance, McKinstry was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week.
This is the perfect performance for a young corner like Kool-Aid to get his confidence back for the rest
