Counter-terror police have issued a major update on the investigation into the Manchester synagogue attack.
They have revealed terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie called 999 during last Thursday's attack on Heaton Park synagogue in Crumpsall and 'pledged allegiance to Islamic State'. It has also emerged the 35-year-old, who was shot dead by armed police at the scene, was carrying two knives and was wearing a 'hoax device'.
Al-Shamie drove into worshippers outside the Middleton Road synagogue at around 9.30am before attacking them with a knife. Two Jewish men, Adrian Daulby, 53, and Melvin Cravitz, 66, were killed in the attack.
