A mother vanished nearly 20 years ago. Today, human remains were found by police digging in dense shrubland in the shadow of Leicester’s King Power stadium.
Malgorzata Wnuczek was last seen catching a bus home from working at Peter Jackson Logistics into Leicester city centre.
The last contact she had with her family, who affectionally referred to her as Gosia, was by text message on 29 May 2006.
On Thursday, specialist officers digging in shrubland by the River Soar found human remains.
It is unknown whether the remains are those of Ms Wnuczek, with further forensic tests needed to establish their identity, the force said. Malgorzata had a three-year-old daughter named Ola who was left behind when she vanished.
In June 2023, information provided by Polish police led to searches of th
