THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Law enforcement agencies in McDuffie County are searching for a driver whose car struck a home after fleeing from a road check.
Georgia State Patrol says troopers were conducting a road check on Lee Street at Tom Watson Way around 9:23 p.m. on Tuesday.
A red Nissan Altima approached the checkpoint, stopped, made a U-turn, and began traveling in the opposite direction, according to the agency.
Troopers say they tried to initiate a traffic stop on the car, and as they approached, the driver turned onto a side street at a high rate of speed and refused to stop.
The Nissan then turned off its headlights and continued to flee. A short distance later, the car pulled into the front yard of a private residence.
