The inner-north suburb of Wooloowin is far from the edge of the world – it’s less than 10 kilometres from Brisbane’s city centre – but it might as well be if you’re on a hired e-scooter.
Users are bound by an invisible line, known as geofencing, that keeps the large hire fleet in the city’s inner-ring.
This travel restriction has led to e-scooters being abandoned at the fringes of the map, sometimes across footpaths, other times in messy piles.

On Bridge Street, next to the Wooloowin train station at the edge of the geofence boundary, e-bikes and e-scooters can be seen dumped in a large heap.
