The status of the much anticipated Historic Town Hall/Library co-location project and the Bedford Building reuse project both received updates at the Oct. 7 Hamilton City Council meeting, with the first round of abatement work in the historic town hall set to begin in spring or early summer of 2026.

The Hamilton Town Hall/Library co-location project plans to put Hamilton’s City Hall and Bitterroot Public Library in one location at the historic Town Hall building at 73 S. Third St., most recently used as Hamilton’s fire hall.

The project has been in development since 2023, with a preliminary architectural report (PAR) being released in August of 2024 and the City Council approving their commitment to the $21,235,300 renovation project in June of this year.
