JewishColumbus is demanding an apology from the Noor Islamic Cultural Center in Hilliard after an imam’s Sept. 5 sermon included a call for “Allah to exterminate those who rejoice when the Zionists rejoice,” a statement the organization’s CEO, Julie Stanley, called “shocking and disturbing.”

“Using words like ‘annihilation’ and ‘exterminate’ send a clear message of violence that shakes our community to its core,” Stanley told the Columbus Jewish News in an email, adding the organization felt surprised and worried because “a faith leader in our own community held these views and was encouraging this hatred and violence.”

Stanley said the sermon was brought to their attention after it was posted on Noor Islamic Center’s YouTube channel and a translation of the service was posted on MEMRI,
