HUNTSVILLE, Ala. ( WAFF ) - Officials with the Madison County District Attorney’s Office say the criminal case regarding August Borden is closed following what they call a “freak accident”.

At the start of the press conference, Madison County District Attorney Robert Broussard stated that what happened to Borden was a “freak accident.”

“We have heard a lot of rumors, a lot of speculation, a lot of conspiracy theories about ‘This was some awful beat down and some assault’ of a student there at Deshler,” Broussaid said. “I’m here to tell you the conclusion of our investigation shows that’s absolutely not the case.”

Broussard went on to say that the situation was “more or less typical high school banter and some limited physical contact involved with no malice.”
