THE BRONX, N.Y. (PIX11) --- A Bronx woman was beaten to death in the hospital room she shared with an emotionally disturbed patient with a history of attacking people in the hospital, according to police and law enforcement sources.

Cynthia Vann, 55, checked into NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln in the Bronx for an underlying medical condition when she was punched multiple times in the head at around 3 a.m. on Sept. 10, according to the NYPD.

Sources said Racquel Haughton, 44, allegedly beat Vann while she was asleep in her bed. The victim woke up to repeated punches to the head and had to be intubated in the ICU, sources said.
