SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WSPA) -- An agreement was reached Wednesday to settle what will become of the Spartanburg clock tower.
According to Kimberly Branch, an organizer with the Support the Spartanburg Clock Tower group, the clock tower will be relocated as a structure and put on display.
"Today was a huge victory for all spartans past present and future. our goal was to save, protect and preserve the clocktower for generations to come," Branch said. "I'm delighted to say we were able to save the clock tower today."
The structure has sat in Morgan Square since the 1970s and has been part of past government buildings since 1881.
Wesley Stoddard, the son of former Spartanburg Mayor Robert Stoddard, said there is no location picked out yet, but they hope it will be in a "high-profile" and acc
