Alaska’s next race for governor continues to take shape — with a familiar face officially entering the field.

Lieutenant Governor Nancy Dahlstrom formally launched her campaign for governor this week in Anchorage. She’s now one of twelve candidates — and one of eleven Republicans — hoping to succeed Governor Mike Dunleavy, who cannot seek reelection due to term limits.

Dahlstrom says her leadership approach will focus on stronger communication with lawmakers.

“I think you might find that my communication style is a little bit different. I will be working with the legislature directly — maybe more than has been happening. That’s just my style.”

Dahlstrom has served as Lieutenant Governor since 2022 and says she plans to campaign across the state in the months ahead.
