LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — An Underwood Elementary School student was removed from campus on Wednesday after school officials said the child brought a BB gun and a knife.
The school's principal, Brad Chaney, and the Lauderdale County Schools Superintendent, Jerry Hill, posted a statement regarding the incident and removal of the student on social media.
The statement said administrators at Underwood Elementary were made aware of a student who brought a BB gun and a knife onto campus.
In the statement, they say immediate and appropriate actions were taken to ensure student and staff safety, including the removal of the student and items.
An investigation began, and they said it was determined the items weren't brought to school as a threat.
