Salem Hospital went into a lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a caller reported a van in the parking garage with a large-caliber gun, but police found no threat after responding.

Officers responded to the hospital around 1:50 p.m., Salem police spokesman Sgt. Jonathan Hardy said. They searched the parking lot for a van, including using a drone, but found nothing matching the description and no evidence of a gun.

Hospital spokeswoman Lisa Wood confirmed the lockdown at 2:25 p.m. and said it was still in effect but did not immediately provide any other information about the circumstances.
