Tulane center Jack Hollifield was the first player to congratulate freshman Javin Gordon in the end zone when he scored his first career touchdown against Tulsa.

Hollifield reached him almost as quickly after touchdowns No. 2 and 3, too, lifting him off the ground a couple of inches when he tied the Green Wave record for scores by a freshman.

Three schools and five years into his college football career, Hollifield has learned to appreciate the significance of every positive moment. He remembers reaching 16 miles per hour on Appalachian State’s GPS measurements last season as he raced to the end zone after a 64-yard touchdown pass.
