MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Over 40 flavored nicotine, tobacco pens were seized from a Mobil Gas Station in Hilmar after an illegal sale to an underage decoy, the sheriff's office said.

Deputies coordinated with the Merced County Public Health on Oct. 2 to test out businesses and make sure they were not selling to those underage. The operation was to make sure that businesses within the Hilmar and Stevinson areas do not sell tobacco products to underage minors.

Deputies said that an employee at the Mobil Gas Station, located on Lander Avenue in Hilmar, did sell a tobacco product to a minor.

The illegal sale resulted in the employee being cited, and 49 of the tobacco, nicotine products being seized.
