NEENAH, Wis. (WBAY) - The debate over health care is a real concern for many families.

Subsidies for insurance premiums in the Affordable Care Act will end this year if nothing is done.

Millions of Americans, including more than 300,000 people in Wisconsin, may go without insurance or face much higher rates once open enrollment begins in a few weeks.

People depending on the ACA for health insurance are starting to receive letters in the mail concerning next year’s coverage and the potential for rate hikes.

That’s unless a compromise is reached by the two political parties.

For the past 9 years, Nicole Meyer and her husband in Neenah have been on the Affordable Care Act for health insurance.

“When the ACA came about, it really was a life-saving thing for our family,” says Meyer.
