WEST GREENWICH, R.I. (WPRI) — A juvenile bald eagle is getting a second chance at life after she was found on the side of the highway in Warwick.
Wildlife Rehabilitators Association of Rhode Island shared details about the bird's journey last month in a post on social media.
The eagle was banded as a nestling in Wisconsin last spring. At only a few months old, she was found in Rhode Island after possibly getting hit by a car.
"She was too weak to fly and, fortunately, our friends over at Warwick ACO responded promptly and brought her directly to us at Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island for emergency care," the association wrote.
Veterinarians determined that the eagle had mild trauma and was dehydrated. The clinic worked to rehabilitate her with proper nutrition and daily conditioning.
