OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. —
The Oldham County School Board voted against LifeWise Academy's application to the district to provide instruction offerings to students.
The Board of Education voted unanimously against its implementation Wednesday night.
LifeWise, a Bible education program, was seeking to offer off-campus religious instruction to students during the school day.
When initially announced, the idea was met with support and opposition from community members.
It would have been allowed under Senate Bill 19 , which says students may be excused for up to one hour per week for voluntary moral instruction that occurs off campus and requires parental consent.
