COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Food is a central part of Latinx cultures across the world. For local Hispanic restaurant owners, the case is no different.

Evelyn Veloz is one of the business owners bringing her heritage to downtown Columbus through food. She has owned and operated Agave for nearly five years.

“I’m from Mexico, so sharing Cinco de Mayo, Dia de los Muertos, we don’t have that here in America,” Veloz said, adding that she loves showing her culture to her young daughters through the restaurant.

Every weekend, Agave also opens up for latin dancing nights, another way Veloz likes to bring her culture to Columbus.

“It’s awesome to be able to share this, fun activities, with the community,” Veloz said. • Agave has been on Broadway in Columbus for nearly five years. (Olivia Yepez)
