WEST HAVEN, Conn. — A New Haven man died after two people were shot in a West Haven restaurant parking lot Sunday.

West Haven police said in an update Wednesday that one of the two shooting victims, identified as 41-year-old Jose Miguel Avila, of New Haven, died from his injuries at the hospital after sustaining three gunshot wounds.

The other victim remains hospitalized and is listed in "stable condition."

Police said the shooting happened in the parking lot of Two Thirteen Bar & Grill at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Officers at the scene were informed that one of the shooting victims had left the area before police arrived. Police later learned that there were two gunshot victims who were being treated at a local hospital.
